- Is Bottom to Tap a serious endurance event?
We’re into catchy event names, but we are NOT into extreme pain. Exercise is the means to an end. If you run or walk, it MEANS you’ll be thirsty at the END. Luckily we’ll have plenty of New Belgium to cool you off.
- When and where can I pick up my race packet?
Friday, October 16, 2015, 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Location: Richmond Volleyball Club, 2921 Byrdhill Rd, Henrico, VA (off Staples Mill Rd)
Saturday, October 17, 2015, 7:30 AM — 10:00 AM
17th Street Farmer’s Market, 100 N 17th Street, RVA
A photo ID is required to pick up your race packet. You can pick up race packets for other pre-registered runners, but you must have a copy of their photo ID. (A picture of their ID on your phone is fine.) If you pick up your packet on Friday, plan to hang out for a while. There will be plenty of cold ones on tap. RVC isn’t just for volleyball.
- What do I get with my registration?
- How much does it cost to register?
$24 before July 4th or first 300 registrants, whichever comes first
$29 between July 4th and August 31st
$34 between September 1st and October 16th
$40 Walk up registration at packet pickup
There is a 2,500 participant limit! Race day registration will be available during packet pickup (only if we haven’t reached the 2,500 participant limit)
- Where does the course go?
- Where can I park before the race?
The 17th Street Farmer’s Market has several convenient parking areas within a quarter mile of the start/finish line.
- Are there prizes for the winners? What is Outrun the Rooster?
Of course. If the thrill of victory isn’t enough for you, the thought of getting that first New Belgium should do it! You’ll also get a sweet finisher’s medal.
Outrun the Rooster! New for 2015! One runner will be chosen as the Rooster and one will be chosen as the Hare. Based on a semi-scientific model and the race directors’ discretion, the Hare will be given a head start. It’s then a race to cross the finish line first! The winner walks away with a huge check for $1000!
- Is the race chip-timed, and the course certified?
No and no. There will be a time clock, but the race is not chip-timed and we will not keep or post any results. If you’re first in the beer line after the race, consider yourself the winner.
- Will results be posted online?
Nope. We’ll post plenty of pictures of people having fun, but no race times.
- Are pets and strollers allowed on the course?
Sorry, please leave Fido at home. Strollers are welcome, but we ask that you start at the back of the pack.
- What’s offered at the party after the race?
Each registered participant will receive a ticket redeemable for one complimentary beer, and additional beers can be purchased. Remember to bring your photo ID to the race. Wrist bands will be given out immediately before and after the race. We’ll also have plenty of food options for purchase from wonderful local restaurants. Finally, we’ll have live music.
- Can I come to the party if I don’t participate in the race?
Definitely. We hope you’ll come out and enjoy New Belgium beer, live music and great food even if you don’t feel like running.
- What happens if the race is cancelled because of dangerous weather?
If there is lightning or other dangerous weather, we’ll delay the start time if safe and feasible. We can’t reschedule the race, but you’ll still have a cool Bottom to Tap shirt. Sorry, no refunds.
